Lynn Brautigam Boots is a lifelong Alaskan with a passion for capturing the Alaskan landscape with her impressionistic style and her distinct use of vibrant color. Lynn uses oils as her medium of choice to create works of art both in her studio and as a plein air painter. In her formative years, Lynn's mother brought her to meet the Alaskan artist Fred Machetanz at his home studio. It was here that Lynn started to form a vision for the use of color she now employs in her paintings. She received her art education from Oregon State University, taking classes in design, illustration, drawing, and painting. Lynn is a charter member of the Plein Air Painters of Alaska, a member of the Alaska Artist's Guild as well as an associate member of the Oil Painters of America. Lynn has perfected her own style by attending workshops from well-known artists such as Ralph Oberg, Marvin Mangus, Norman Lowell, Kevin Macpherson and Lois Griffel - director of the Cape Cod School of Art. She is delighted to be represented by The Georgia Blue Gallery, the most respected art gallery in Alaska. Lynn's paintings can be viewed at the gallery, located at 3555 Arctic Boulevard, Anchorage, AK.
ARTIST PHILOSOPHY
"My work is about color. I combine the awe inspiring grandeur of the Alaska landscape with a classic impressionist approach to color, light, and atmosphere in my painings. Much of my work is painted on-site, en plein air. I try to capture the emotional response of "being there" with a palette knife, brush, and oil paints. My work combines two of my favorite in life: being outdoors and oil painting."
